Wembley Stadium has been added to the new Vitality North London Half Marathon race route (15 March 2015). The run starts and finishes at Allianz Park, home of Saracens Rugby Club, but runners will also now go through Wembley Stadium on route, promising a unique stadium to stadium marathon experience.
Jim Frayling, Head of Business Development at Wembley Stadium, said:
We’re delighted to be hosting the Vitality North London Half Marathon at Wembley Stadium. We’re all about great events that inspire memories and we hope this is a memorable event for all the participants.
We share an extremely strong and fruitful relationship with Saracens and to be able to work with them on a completely new event, while using GO2’s expertise in running events, is a fantastic opportunity for us all.
Gordon Banks, Stadium Director at Allianz Park, said:
The Vitality North London Half Marathon will provide the people of Barnet, Brent and North London with a world-class running event that they can be proud of. As well as being home to Saracens and Shaftsbury Barnet Harriers athletics, Allianz Park has become a popular hub for community sport and engagement, and the Vitality North London Half Marathon will provide many further opportunities for local people to keep fit and stay healthy. With our partners GO2, Wembley Stadium and the London Boroughs of Barnet & Brent, we have created a unique route that will provide runners with a memorable experience.
Jamie Warren, Head of Marketing and Commercial at GO2, said:
This is set to be a real stand out half marathon in the running calendar, designed with race experience in mind. The integration of both stadiums is particularly special, and will allow runners to experience two of the areas most loved sporting venues from a very unique perspective.
