Hull City owner Assem Allam says the club will look to leave its KC Stadium home if the club is promoted to the Premier League, and end a shared deal with Super League side Hull FC.
“If we get promoted, then there are other plans There is no future for me and the KC Stadium unless it is freehold. If you rent a house, then you don’t pay to put an extension on it,” he said.
Allam took over the club in December 2010 when they were around £35m in debt and the following May held discussions with Hull City Council about buying the ground, which they have shared for ten years, and redeveloping the surrounding area to build a sporting village. In September talks ended without a deal being agreed and Allam is unwilling to spend money on a ground they do not own.
The club is currently fourth in the Championship.
