Celtic’s planning application to build a hotel, museum and shop has been passed by Glasgow City Council, giving the club three years to finance and develop the project. The club believes provision of a club museum and improved shop/ticketing facilities as proposed will greatly enhance the visitor experience and will help to sustain jobs and economic activity throughout the year. The club stated:
The provision of a hotel along with the club facilities will increase the attractiveness of the location as a tourist destination with spin-off benefits to the entire area.
The proposed development will result in the creation of much-needed new employment opportunities associated with the hotel and museum.
By locating the proposed hotel immediately beside the stadium and arena, pressure on the local transport network will be reduced, particularly at times of peak movement.
Tottenham stadium hotel seeks operator
CBRE Hotels has been appointed by Tottenham Hotspur Football Club to advise on the selection of a hotel operator for a new 180 bedroom, upscale hotel within the Club’s new stadium project. The hotel will open in 2020 and will include a destination restaurant, rooftop bar with views across London, a swimming pool and private members room.
The 23-storey tower hotel will also become London’s third largest conference, banqueting and events venue, estimated to attract over 2.5 million visitors per year to the new stadium.
David Bailey, CBRE Hotels, commented:
This is an iconic project in what will be a world class sports and entertainment venue. Such a prestigious development presents a unique opportunity for an hotelier that can match Tottenham Hotspur’s vision and ambition for this project.
Donna-Maria Cullen, Executive Director Tottenham Hotspur commented:
Since embarking on this exciting journey, 1,000 new jobs in the construction, IT, hospitality, retail and sports industries have been created, singlehandedly spearheading the regeneration of Tottenham. Once complete our stunning new stadium, hotel and the wider scheme will deliver significant community benefits and an unrivalled fan experience – creating a world-class sports and entertainment destination – and in our birthplace of Tottenham.
